As one of CEGA’s original and founding members, Bryan Segale commands the respect of all tour members. This guy was there for the legendary “Auburn Round Table dinner of 2000″ and recently survived a trip to Israel, his only comment being Israel bumps. Whether this referenced Israeli ladies or distant explosions is anyone’s guess. Bryan’s craftiness around a golf course, strong IT background, and cunning poker skill has earned him the nickname “The Engineer” among his peers. He is famous for being a very streaky player and for his obscene ability to hit a seven iron further than a driver, which is no knock because the seven iron goes about three bills. Bryan also holds the record for the “Greatest Saudster of all Time” -- accomplished in 2005 with the aid of an innocent parking lot street lamp and witnessed by the whole crew on the 18th green of Deer Ridge CC. Bryan’s only chronic weaknesses, as it would appear to outsiders, are a lack of practice time and a fondness for getting completely gassed during a tournament. After 36 holes of competitive golf, there are few CEGA members who can ever say “I had more brews and darts than The Engineer.” Throughout his CEGA career, Bryan has shown flashes of brilliance. His crowning achievement to date is POTY in 2000, the first ever awarded in the inaugural CEGA season. Bryan has also been instrumental in the creation and care of CEGA’s website, which chronicles the exploits of legends. In looking forward to the 2006 season, few odds-makers have accounted for the fact that Bryan’s new place of employment is mere minutes from the Holy Grail, or Mecca if you will, of golf practice facilities. The mere mention of “Mariners” brings instant credibility and fear into rival golfers who have not visited the facility recently. The last two CEGA members awarded POTY in 2004 and 2005 were groomed on its grounds. All this history is now in Bryan’s backyard. Will he take advantage in 2007? A resurgence of the old guard is likely.
